Deputy Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare Hon. Mercy Maruva Dinha has reiterated Government’s commitment to enhancing the welfare, benefits and working conditions of public servants across Zimbabwe.
Addressing delegates at the Africa Public Service Day 2026 commemorations held at Chinhoyi University of Technology (CUT) in Mashonaland West on Tuesday, Hon. Dinha said Government remains focused on creating a conducive working environment that enables public servants to deliver quality services effectively.
She highlighted the importance of both financial and non-financial incentives in boosting employee morale, noting that recognition programmes, skills development initiatives, career advancement opportunities and improved workplace conditions play a significant role in motivating workers.
“Government remains committed to promoting decent work and creating an enabling environment for public servants to perform effectively,” said Hon. Dinha.

The Deputy Minister stressed that investing in the well-being of public servants is key to improving productivity and service delivery.
“A motivated public servant is a productive public servant,” she said, adding that a committed and efficient public service is crucial for the attainment of Vision 2030 and the goals outlined in Agenda 2063.
Hon. Dinha also encouraged public servants to embrace innovation, uphold professionalism and adopt a citizen-centred approach in their daily duties as the country advances its sustainable socio-economic development agenda.
The Africa Public Service Day commemorations provide a platform to celebrate the contribution of public servants while promoting excellence, accountability and innovation within the public sector.
