Harare | A shocking incident unfolded in Braeside as a 36-year-old man, identified as Evans Molani, was arrested on charges of allegedly raping his 18-year-old maid.
The distressing incident which occurred on Saturday shocked the community.
According to reports from Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, the appalling act took place while Molani’s wife was away visiting her rural home. Molani, reportedly intoxicated, returned home late at night on February 10th and demanded food from the maid, who complied with his request.

However, what followed was a harrowing ordeal for the young maid, as Molani allegedly seized her and subjected her to a brutal act of sexual assault without using protection.
The traumatized maid, after enduring the horrific assault, confided in the landlady about the ordeal she had suffered.
Upon learning of the disturbing incident, the landlady advised the maid to report the matter to Molani’s wife.
Subsequently, Molani was apprehended by the authorities following the maid’s courageous decision to speak out against her abuser.
In the aftermath of the assault, the victim was promptly taken to the MSF Clinic for a comprehensive medical examination to assess and document the physical and emotional impact of the assault.
This distressing incident serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive issue of gender-based violence that continues to plague our communities.
