Anthony Joshua has vowed to continue fighting after his shocking defeat to IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois at Wembley, where he was knocked out in the fifth round following four knockdowns.
This loss marks Joshua’s fourth in his career and eliminates his chance to become an undisputed world champion, raising significant questions about his future in boxing.
Despite the setback, the 34-year-old former Olympic champion is determined to persevere. “Of course I want to continue fighting,” Joshua said, choosing not to answer questions at the post-fight press conference. He emphasized his warrior spirit and the value of the experience, stating, “We rolled the dice for the third time… Fine margins will cost you at the top level.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn expressed confidence in Joshua’s comeback potential, suggesting possible rematches with Dubois or an all-British showdown against Tyson Fury, who is set to face Oleksandr Usyk in December. “2025 will be an interesting year for Anthony Joshua, one way or the other,” Hearn said, emphasizing the importance of ensuring Joshua leaves the sport with both a legacy and his health intact.
Meanwhile, Dubois, 27, expressed his satisfaction with the victory, stating he aimed to correct his previous loss to Usyk and is eager for a rematch. “I did the business and I’m glad I proved everyone wrong. But this is just the start of my journey,” he said.
