Harare, Zimbabwe | The Kingdom World Tour concert featuring the American gospel ensemble Maverick City was a highly anticipated event in Zimbabwe, held on Monday night at the Glamis Arena in Harare.
The performance, which marked Maverick City’s debut in the country, was a showcase of their powerful and uplifting music, including notable hits like Tim Godfrey’s “Big God.”
The show was well-received and highlighted the gospel group’s ability to deliver a memorable experience.

However, the event was marred by some controversy. UK-based Zimbabwean gospel singer Annatoria, who was initially scheduled to perform, withdrew from the lineup alongside Takesure Zamar and Tembalami.
Annatoria made an unexpected appearance on stage later, but the audience’s reaction was far from favorable.
The crowd, displeased by her earlier absence, responded with boos and heckles.
In an effort to smooth over the situation, Annatoria asked the audience to behave “like Christians” in Shona, but her plea did little to quell the discontent.
During the concert, renowned gospel artist Kirk Franklin took the opportunity to address the audience regarding the event’s spiritual message.
He reaffirmed the focus on Jesus Christ, despite the earlier disruptions.
This performance was Franklin’s second appearance in Zimbabwe, following a decade-long gap, and it added a significant element to the night’s spiritual experience.
As Maverick City wraps up their tour with an upcoming performance in Ghana, the event in Harare will be remembered for both its inspiring musical offerings and the notable incident involving Annatoria, which has left many fans curious about the reasons behind her withdrawal and the overall impact on the night’s proceedings.
