Puma Energy has reinforced its commitment to Zimbabwe with an additional US$3 million investment to expand its aviation fuel storage facility in Harare.
On Monday, the company unveiled an enhanced jet fuel depot at Robert Gabriel Mugabe (RGM) International Airport, marking a significant expansion in its energy sector presence.
During the inauguration, Puma Energy Zimbabwe General Manager Mr. Donatien Kodog expressed pride in the company’s infrastructure investments aimed at bolstering fuel security in Zimbabwe.
“We believe this will greatly increase the nation’s aviation fuel storage capacity, ensuring a consistent supply to meet the aviation industry’s growing demands,” he stated.
Last year, Puma Energy Zimbabwe committed to investing US$30 million over three years to solidify its presence in the country, demonstrating its long-term commitment to Zimbabwe.
“Our investment in this expanded storage facility is part of Puma Energy Zimbabwe’s larger commitment to infuse US$30 million into the Zimbabwean market over the next three years, underscoring our dedication to supporting the nation’s economic growth and development,” Mr. Kodog added.
The RGM International Airport jet fuel depot, established in 2015 with an initial capacity of 232,000 liters, expanded to 490,000 liters in 2019 to meet rising demand.
Currently, the depot’s capacity has reached 1.49 million liters, achieved at a cost of US$2.2 million, and employs 15 people. Additionally, a third refueler costing US$800,000 has been acquired, bringing the total investment to US$3 million, highlighting the company’s dedication to Zimbabwe.
