A tragic bus accident last Tuesday has devastated a family, claiming the lives of Lorenzo Palu, 36, his wife Forgive Palu, 31, and their 3-year-old son Lwandile. The family was traveling from Zimbabwe to South Africa aboard the Mzansi Express bus when the accident occurred.
The crash took place at the Three Mile Circle in Makhado, South Africa, and resulted in the deaths of ten passengers, including the Palu family. They were returning to South Africa after celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary in Bulawayo.
Yesterday, a somber scene unfolded at Umvutsha Cemetery in Bulawayo, where the Palu family was laid to rest. Little Lwandile was buried in a small coffin between his parents, symbolizing their unbreakable bond as they were laid to rest side-by-side.

In other news, A tragic head-on collision between a truck and a tanker in Nigeria’s Niger State has resulted in the deaths of 48 people and at least 50 cattle. The incident, involving a gas tanker explosion, occurred in Agaie Local Government Area, about 2 km from Dendo Community.
In a statement, the Niger State Government confirmed the explosion, which also destroyed vehicles and caused significant loss of life and property. Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago expressed deep sorrow over the incident.
Governor Bago, through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, conveyed his condolences, describing the tragedy as a devastating loss. He urged the local community to remain calm and called on road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent future incidents.
The governor also offered prayers, asking for divine comfort for the victims’ families and quick recovery for the injured.
