A man from BULAWAYO has appeared in court facing charges of assaulting his wife with fists on the face after she questioned him if he had an affair.
This was after the man, Kudakwashe Chibidi, bragged to his wife Qinisela Sibanda that it was impossible to drive a vehicle without a spare wheel.
This was heard when Chibidi (48) appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja charged with two counts of physical abuse as defined in Section 3 (1) (a) as read with Section 4 (1) of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16.
Chibidi pleaded guilty to both counts and was convicted. He was remanded out of custody to 20 December for sentencing.
The court heard that on 6 November at around 9PM, Chibidi was served food by his wife Sibanda.
After he was done with eating, he said that it was impossible to drive a vehicle without a spare wheel.
Sibanda (49) then asked him if he was having an affair and then the two parties started having a misunderstanding.
In a fit of anger, Chibidi assaulted his wife with fists twice on the face.
Upon sensing danger, their tenant Nokuthaba Kehla (21) then took Sibanda to her room so that she could spend the night with her away from her violent husband.
At around 2AM, when Kehla was in the restroom, Chibidi then dashed into her room and forcefully dragged his wife out.
Chibidi then started assaulting his wife again and when Kehla tried to stop him, he violently pushed her and she fell on the ground.
Kehla got up and Chibidi assaulted her several times with open hands on the forehead.
Sibanda teamed up with Kehla and went and reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Chibidi.
